St Andrew’s Heritage Open Days

Find out more about your local church, its history and links with the Sandys Family at the Heritage Open Weekend at St Andrew’s. The weekend features various events.
Over the weekend The Old Chancel, the remaining fragment of the medieval church in the churchyard, will be open to visitors. Converted to be the Sandys family mausoleum in the 19th century, it is now used for a service only once a year on Easter morning.
In Heritage Week, Morning Prayer will be held in this ancient place of worship
at 9.30am on the 13th, 14th, 15th and 17th. All are welcome
Events on the Heritage Weekend include:
On Saturday 18th
at 10.30am there will be a Guided Walking Tour (c.1 hour) led by Blue Badge guide, Chris Gait, entitled “The Sandys of Time” (potentially another later tour by request)
Local Produce from Ombersley Allotments – less than One Food Mile! – will be on sale all day as part of the ‘Edible England’ theme of Heritage Open Days in 2021
and from 2-4pm there will be a special “Traditional English Afternoon Tea”,
On Sunday 19th
Local Produce from Ombersley Allotments will be on sale again
and at 3pm, there’s an Illustrated Talk by Howard Robinson (followed by Tea & Cakes) in St Andrew’s, entitled “The Monarch’s Way (Charles II) – 370 years on”.
Pre-Booking is preferred for the Walk and the Illustrated Talk (though not essential) .
